PLANNING THE FUTURE
The first years of a human being's life are characterized by the development of the person; as the individual approaches adulthood, the need to be the protagonist of his own choices grows; interventions in support of the person are therefore necessarily oriented to other domains of quality of life (Schalock et al. 2002) such as self-determination and social inclusion. The areas of intervention on adaptive behavior, previously focused on motor development and cognitive / scholastic skills, therefore shift to independent living skills and social competence. My intervention can therefore be helpful in identifying, defining and carrying out a life plan which, taking into account the past, the skills possessed, the individual potential and what the person desires, accompanies him towards and during adult life.
